Villa Mitre de Bahía Blanca

Club Villa Mitre is an Argentine sports club located in Bahía Blanca, in the interior of the Province of Buenos Aires (in the centre-east of the Argentine Republic), founded on 14 August 1924 by the Syrian-Lebanese community that populated the neighbourhood. Its main activities are football, in which it currently plays in the Torneo Federal A, and basketball, in which it takes part in La Liga.

Throughout its history, the club has stood out in basketball. It won a runners-up place in the Liga Federal in the 2018–19 season, which allowed it to be promoted to La Liga (the second tier nationally). Locally, it has a total of 8 titles in the Primera División of the Asociación Bahiense de Básquetbol, making it the team with the fourth-most titles in this competition. It plays its home matches at the Estadio José Martínez, which has a capacity of 2,800 spectators.

However, football is the club's main activity. Villa Mitre has been champion of the Liga del Sur 9 times. At national level it has won two titles, one of them in the third tier of Argentine football (Torneo Argentino A 2005–06) and the most recent in the fourth tier of Argentine football (Torneo Federal B 2015). The team plays at home at the Estadio El Fortín, which has a capacity of 6,000 spectators.

Besides these two sports, Club Villa Mitre has other disciplines: bocce, futsal, handball, hockey, karate, rugby, volleyball, roller skating and artistic gymnastics.

The colours of its inauguration were red, white and black; however, in 1936 the board of directors replaced the red with green in homage to the Palestinian people.

Its traditional rival is Tiro Federal, which is also from Bahía Blanca. It also contests the Bahía Blanca derby with Olimpo.
