Eintracht Frankfurt (Eintracht Frankfurt e.V., pronounced /ˈaɪntʁaxt ˈfʁaŋkfʊʁt/, in German and officially) is a sports entity from Frankfurt am Main, Germany. Founded in 1899, it is known for its professional football section, which takes part in the 1. Bundesliga, the top division of national football.
The team plays its home matches at the Waldstadion and, as of 2025, has more than one hundred and fifty-five thousand members.
The club was founded on 8 March 1899. The club's colours are red and black, which are reflected in its kit, and to a lesser extent white, while the club's crest is the Frankfurt eagle (in red and white); its football department is considered one of the great traditional clubs of German football. Despite being such a long-standing club, it has won only one league championship and five German cups. On the international stage, Eintracht reached the European Cup final in 1960, but lost to Real Madrid Club de Fútbol. Seven years later, it would win the UEFA Intertoto Cup in 1967. Two decades after the defeat against Real Madrid, the club won the UEFA Cup in 1980, thus adding its second international title. After forty-two years, in 2022, it would achieve its third international title by winning the UEFA Europa League after beating Rangers on penalties. International players such as Jürgen Grabowski, Bernd Hölzenbein, Thomas Berthold and Andreas Möller have emerged from its prolific youth academy.
Eintracht also maintains seventeen other departments for various sports, in addition to being one of the six clubs with the most members in sport in Germany.
