Central Norte

Club Atlético Central Norte, better known as Central Norte or simply Central, is a sports club founded on 9 March 1921 in the city of Salta. Its main discipline is professional football.

It currently takes part in the Torneo Federal A (the third division of Argentine football for clubs indirectly affiliated to the AFA), after winning promotion in the 2019 season of the Torneo Regional Federal Amateur.

The club takes its name from the railway line that crosses the province of Salta, the Ferrocarril Central Norte Argentino. For this reason, its shirt is black, and its players are known as the "Cuervos" ("Crows") or "azabaches" ("jet-blacks"). Previously they were also called "ferroviarios" ("railwaymen").

Its stadium is called Doctor Luis Güemes, although it usually plays home matches at the Estadio Padre Ernesto Martearena because of its greater capacity. It took part in the Torneo Nacional, one of the historic championships of the top division, on seven occasions, and was the first club from Salta to play in the Primera B Nacional.

Its traditional rival is Juventud Antoniana, against whom it plays the "clásico salteño". Gimnasia y Tiro, Gimnasia de Jujuy and San Martín de Tucumán are historic rivals of the club, and its matches against them are also considered derbies.

Although the main sporting activity is football, the club also offers other sports such as volleyball, field hockey and rugby. Previously, chess, athletics, basketball, boxing and cycling were also practised.
