Sevilla FC

Sevilla Fútbol Club, S.A.D. is a Spanish football club organised as a sociedad anónima deportiva (sports limited company). It is based in Seville, the capital of the autonomous community of Andalusia, and currently plays in the Primera División. It was founded on 25 January 1890 and its first president was the British vice-consul Edward Farquharson Johnston. It was later entered in the register of associations on 14 October 1905, with José Luis Gallegos, from Jerez, as its president.

The Estadio Ramón Sánchez-Pizjuán, owned by the club, is the ground the first team uses to play its official home matches. It is located in the Nervión neighbourhood and is named after the man who was president for seventeen years. It currently has a capacity of 43,864 spectators.

Its honours include several trophies and titles that make it the team with the most regional, national and international titles in Seville and in all of Andalusia. Domestically, it has been league champion once (1945-46) and runner-up four times, and has won five Copas del Rey and one Supercopa de España. Internationally, it is the record winner of the UEFA Cup, having won it seven times (four of them as the Europa League), and it also won a UEFA Super Cup in 2006. In the UEFA Champions League its best result was the quarter-finals in 2018. It has spent 78 seasons in the Primera División and 13 in the Segunda. Sevilla F.C. is placed sixth in the all-time table of the Spanish football league. It was named by the International Federation of Football History and Statistics as the best club in the world in 2006 and 2007. It has several teams in the lower categories, such as Sevilla Atlético, founded in 1950 and currently playing in the Primera Federación.

In 2005 it celebrated the centenary of its foundation with a great number of social and sporting events, among the most popular of which were the centenary anthem, the flag and logo designed for the anniversary and the special cover of that year's Feria de Abril, as well as the awarding of the Medal of Andalusia. In 2019 it received from Spain's Consejo Superior de Deportes the Gold Plaque of the Real Orden del Mérito Deportivo.

It maintains a historic rivalry with the other professional team in the city, Real Betis Balompié, against whom it plays the Seville derby.
