Cerro Porteño

Club Cerro Porteño is a sports institution based in the capital del sentimiento ("capital of sentiment"), or barrio Obrero, of the city of Asunción, Paraguay. Its main activity is football and it currently competes in the Primera División of Paraguay, where it has won a total of 34 official titles throughout its history. It was founded on 1 October 1912 under the name Cerro Porteño Football Club.

It plays its home matches at the Estadio General Pablo Rojas, better known by the nickname «La Olla» and others such as «La Olla Azulgrana», «La Olla Monumental», «La Capital del Sentimiento» or «La Nueva Olla», the latter since its reopening in 2017. Its official name honours the former president of Cerro Porteño, General Pablo Rojas, who led the club for 35 years and was also the architect of the building growth of the institution and of Paraguayan football. It is worth noting that it hosted a match of the 1999 Copa América and the single-leg final of the 2019 Copa Sudamericana. The venue is the largest and most modern in Paraguay, with a capacity of 45,000 spectators.

It plays the Clásico of Paraguayan football against Club Olimpia, with whom it forms one of the most traditional and representative derbies in South America. It also takes part in the Clásico de Barrio Obrero against Nacional. Likewise, owing to their status as big teams, it maintains rivalries with the clubs Libertad and Guaraní.

The club also takes part in other sports such as futsal, beach football, basketball, volleyball, handball, hockey and athletics.
