AS Nancy-Lorraine

Association Sportive Nancy-Lorraine, usually called AS Nancy-Lorraine, ASNL or simply Nancy, is a French football club linked to the city of Nancy, in the Grand Est region. Its first team plays its home matches at the Stade Marcel Picot, located in the neighbouring commune of Tomblaine, and competes in Ligue 2, the second tier of French football.

The current club descends from Union sportive Frontière, founded in 1910 and renamed Association sportive lorraine in 1928. In 1967 the professional section was created on that basis, adopting the name Association Sportive Nancy-Lorraine. Therefore, 1910 corresponds to the origin of the association and 1967 to the start of ASNL as a professional team under its current name.

ASNL is a distinct entity from the defunct FC Nancy, which had represented the city in professional football. When the latter abandoned professionalism in the 1960s, Claude Cuny promoted a new project based on Association sportive lorraine.

The club's main honours are one Coupe de France, won in 1978, and one Coupe de la Ligue, won in 2006. It has also been five times champion of the French second division and won the Championnat National title in 2025. Its best finishes in the top flight have been two fourth places, in 1976–77 and 2007–08. Michel Platini began his professional career at the club and scored the winning goal in the 1978 Coupe de France final. After three seasons in the Championnat National, Nancy returned to Ligue 2 as champion in 2025.
