FC Nantes

Football Club de Nantes (in Breton: Naoned; in Gallo: Naunnt), better known simply as FC Nantes, is a French football club from Nantes, Pays de la Loire. The club was founded on 21 April 1943, during the Second World War, as a result of the merger of the city's local clubs. From 1992 until 2007, the club was known as FC Nantes Atlantique before returning to its current name at the start of the 2007–08 season. From the 2026–27 season it will play in Ligue 2, the second tier of French football.

Nantes is one of the most successful clubs in French football, having won eight Ligue 1 titles and four Coupes de France, and holding one Coupe de la Ligue title. The club is famous for its jeu à la nantaise, its collective spirit, championed mainly by the coaches José Arribas, Jean-Claude Suaudeau and Raynald Denoueix, and for its prolific youth academy, which has produced players such as Marcel Desailly, Didier Deschamps, Jérémy Toulalan, Randal Kolo Muani, Christian Karembeu, Mickaël Landreau, Nicolas Ouédec and Patrice Loko. Also, although they did not come through its youth ranks, it was the first professional club of Claude Makélélé and Maxime Bossis. Besides Les Canaris ("the canaries"), Nantes is also known as Les jaunes et verts ("the yellows and greens") and La Maison Jaune (the Yellow House).
