Club Brugge KV

Club Brugge (in Flemish, Club Brugge Koninklijke Voetbalvereniging; pronounced [klʏˈbrʏɣə ˌkoːnɪŋkləkə ˈvudbɑlvəreːnəɣɪŋ], called simply Club Brugge) is a Belgian football club based in the city of Bruges, in the province of West Flanders. It was legally established in 1891, although it was founded in 1890, and plays its official home matches at the Jan Breydelstadion, which has a capacity of 29,472 spectators. The club's traditional colors are blue and black. It has played in the Belgian First Division since 1958.

It is one of the most decorated clubs in the country, with nineteen league championships, and has enjoyed renown in European football after reaching two European finals and three more semifinals. It is the only Belgian club that has played in the final of the European Cup since its inception in 1955 (now the Champions League), in which it lost to Liverpool Football Club in the 1978 final. It also lost in the 1976 UEFA Cup final (now the Europa League), to the same opponent. Most recently (2023-2024) it managed to reach the semifinals of the UEFA Europa Conference League.

One of the most important confrontations in Belgian football is the one it plays against its great rival Cercle Brugge Koninklijke Sportvereniging (in Spanish, Asociación Real de Deportes Círculo de Brujas), in the so-called "Bruges derby". Other important rivalries of the club are against Koninklijke Atletiek Associatie Gent and Royal Sporting Club Anderlecht, from neighboring provinces. It is considered, together with the latter and Royal Standard de Liège, one of the three great teams of Belgian football.
