Rentistas

Club Atlético Rentistas is a Uruguayan football club from the city of Montevideo, founded on 26 March 1933. It has belonged to Cerrito de la Victoria since its origins, although it also represents the Pérez Castellanos and Porvenir neighbourhoods, since it had its headquarters in both over the course of its history. Its current headquarters was inaugurated in 1972 and is located on Avenida General Flores, the main thoroughfare of the neighbourhood. It adopted the Sociedad Anónima Deportiva regime in 2018.

It achieved promotion to the Primera División for the first time in 1971, where it remained until 1980, then returned to the Segunda and went back up to the Primera División on another 6 occasions (1988, 1996, 2003, 2011, 2013 and 2019).

In 1998 it inaugurated its own stadium, the Complejo Rentistas, was runner-up in the Clausura tournament of the Primera División and qualified for the Copa Conmebol, also achieving a run of 5 consecutive victories against Club Nacional de Football without conceding a goal. In that same season its goalkeeper, Álvaro Núñez, kept a clean sheet for 947 minutes, which to this day remains the third best unbeaten goalkeeping record in the history of Uruguayan football.

Its first international participation was in 2014, when it competed in the 2014 Copa Sudamericana. Previously, in 1998, it had qualified for the Copa Conmebol, which it would later decline to play.

On 14 October 2020 it won its first top-division title, winning the Torneo Apertura after finishing level on points with Nacional and winning a tiebreaker final that ended in a Rentistas victory in extra time.
