Huachipato

Club Deportivo Huachipato is a football club from Chile based in the city of Talcahuano in the Biobío Region. It currently plays in the Primera División of Chile.

It was founded on 7 June 1947 by the Chilean steel company Huachipato, which is in turn managed by CAP S.A. From 2015 it became a sociedad anónima deportiva (sports public limited company), under the name "Huachipato Sociedad Anónima Deportiva Profesional".

Huachipato has three Primera División titles, corresponding to the 1974, Clausura 2012 and 2023 tournaments, being, together with Santiago Wanderers, the third team outside Santiago with the most titles, surpassed only by Everton with 4 titles and Cobreloa with 8. It is also the only team in the Biobío Region to have won the top category of Chilean football. It also has 1 Segunda División title and 2 Regional Championships.

The club plays at the Estadio Huachipato-CAP Acero, located in the Las Higueras area of the commune of Talcahuano, which has a capacity of 10,500 spectators. It is one of the few Chilean teams that own their own stadium.

Its traditional rivals have historically been Naval, against whom it plays the Clásico Chorero, in addition to playing regional derbies against the teams of the city of Concepción, mainly Deportes Concepción, and less intense rivalries with Fernández Vial and Universidad de Concepción. Of all these derby rivals, none currently faces Huachipato professionally.
