D.C. United

D.C. United is a football club from the United States based in the capital, Washington, D.C. It was founded in 1994 and plays in Major League Soccer in the Eastern Conference. It has played its home matches at Audi Field since July 2018, which has a capacity of 20,000 people. Formerly it played its matches at the historic Robert F. Kennedy Memorial Stadium, from its first years of existence until 2017.

D.C. United has won the MLS Cup four times. It also achieved other successes: it won the U.S. Open Cup three times and the MLS Supporters' Shield 4 times. In 1998, it became the first American club to be champion of the CONCACAF Champions' Cup and the only one from that country to win the Copa Interamericana. It is considered one of the most decorated teams in football in the United States, with 13 official titles.

D.C. United is the only American team that has taken part in the Copa Sudamericana, in the 2005 and 2007 editions, and together with Sporting Kansas City and the New York Red Bulls, they are the only three clubs from their country that have taken part in a competition organized by Conmebol. Players such as Jaime Moreno, Christian Gómez, Marco Etcheverry, Eddie Pope, Jeff Agoos, John Harkes and Wayne Rooney are some of the most outstanding stars of the team.

It maintains an intense rivalry with the New York Red Bulls; the two contest the Atlantic Cup, considered one of the hottest derbies in Major League Soccer. It has a fan base with three supporters' groups.

It is the only club from the United States that is in the Conmebol Ranking as of 16 December 2021, and it is in position 256 of it; in contrast, in recent years it has been in decline in terms of sporting level, since it has not won any title or taken part in international tournaments, gradually showing a low level.
