New York City FC

New York City Football Club, also known as NYCFC, is a football club from New York City, in the United States. It was founded in 2013 by Manchester City and the New York Yankees, who jointly paid $100 million to join as a new franchise in the Eastern Conference of Major League Soccer of the United States from 2015. It has been Major League Soccer Cup champion once, achieving it in 2021.

Since 2015 the team has played as an MLS expansion side and is the second team in the New York City metropolitan area together with the New York Red Bulls, a founding team of MLS, with whom a rivalry arose known as the New York derby, called the "Hudson River Derby".

Jason Kreis was appointed as the club's first manager, remaining only one year before being replaced by Patrick Vieira. Vieira guided New York City to its first MLS Cup playoffs the following season, as well as to a second-place finish in the Supporters' Shield in 2017. Vieira's teams also set Major League Soccer records and statistics for the greatest improvement in wins in consecutive seasons.

According to regular-season attendance in 2019, NYCFC's attendance was the ninth largest in the league. In 2019, Forbes estimated that the franchise was the seventh most valuable in MLS, with a value of more than $385 million.
