Real Potosí

El Club Real Potosí is a football club from the city of Potosí, Bolivia. It was founded on 1 April 1988 by the Spaniard Samuel Blanco and since 2022 has played in the Primera "A" of the Asociación de Fútbol Potosí, after being relegated in the 2021 Primera División. It plays its home matches at the Estadio Víctor Agustín Ugarte, which has a capacity of 32,105 spectators.

After its foundation it merged with the club BAMIN (Banco Minero), which had been founded on 20 October 1941, and was officially renamed Club Bamin Real Potosí; the name Bamin was later dropped because its then president was a fan of Real Madrid.

Nationally it won its first and only Primera División title by being crowned champion of the Torneo Apertura 2007. It has also won 1 Copa Simón Bolívar title.

Internationally it has 10 appearances in official tournaments organized by the Confederación Sudamericana de Fútbol: six in the Copa Libertadores de América and four in the Copa Sudamericana. Its best international performance came in 2016, when it reached the second stage of the Copa Sudamericana.

Its main rival is Nacional Potosí, against whom it plays the “Clásico Potosino”, one of the most recent derbies in Bolivia. It also has rivalries with the clubs Independiente Petrolero and Universitario, both from Sucre, the city and capital of the country, whose matches against each other are referred to as the Clásico del Sur de Bolivia.
