Centro Español

Centro Social y Recreativo Español, better known as Centro Español, is an Argentine social and sports club whose social headquarters are located at calle Estanislao del Campo 989, in the barrio of Villa Sarmiento, within the partido of Morón in the province of Buenos Aires. It was founded on 24 June 1934.

It plays in the Primera División D of Argentine football, which was originally the fourth tier and which, from the 1986/87 season, became the fifth for clubs directly affiliated with the AFA.

The club does not have an approved stadium, so it currently plays its home matches at the Estadio Carlos Alberto Sacaan of Club Atlético Ituzaingó. It previously used the Estadio José María Moraños, owned by Club Atlético Lugano, and the Estadio José Manuel Moreno, of Deportivo Merlo, among others. Its greatest rivalry is with Puerto Nuevo.

Since its affiliation with the AFA in 1959, it has not played any championship other than the Primera D, and it was champion. But it was also suspended from its affiliation on five occasions.

Its first official AFA title was obtained in 2011 with the Copa Integración, won by the Sexta división of the C and D youth divisions.

It also took part in several editions of the Copa Argentina, since its reintroduction in 2011. In the 2012/13 edition it beat Cañuelas Fútbol Club in the first round and fell in the second round, on penalties, to Estudiantes (BA), then of the Primera B Metropolitana, who would go on to reach the semi-finals, beating teams such as River Plate and thrashing Defensa y Justicia. It kept its unbeaten record in the Cup until the 2013/14 edition, when it lost 1–0 to Defensores de Cambaceres, of the Primera C.

The club had an agreement with the club Huracán Valencia of Spain, to which it sent some players each year so that they could gain experience in Europe.

Outside the footballing sphere, it has a good turnout of members for other activities. It is also incorporated into community projects, through the Plan de Desarrollo Estratégico of the Municipality of Morón.
