San Martín de Formosa

Club Sportivo General San Martín is a sports institution founded in the City of Formosa, Argentina. It currently plays in the Torneo Federal A, the third division of Argentine football for clubs indirectly affiliated to the AFA.

San Martín de Formosa (as it is known nationally) is one of the most important sports institutions in the Province of Formosa, standing out in branches such as football and volleyball, both women's and men's.

Its football team plays in the Primera División of the Liga Formoseña de Fútbol. It took part in the 2015 Torneo Federal C, where on 3 May it won promotion to the Torneo Federal B after beating Unión de Pampa Alegría 3–2 in the final. It took part in the Copa Argentina, being eliminated in the first match in the 2011/12 edition by Sarmiento of Resistencia, Chaco.

It achieved promotion to the Torneo Federal A after defeating Club Atlético San Jorge in the final of the 2017 Torneo Federal B.

Its president is Grisel Noemí Cardozo, one of the few women presidents of sports clubs in the country.

Its ground is located on the club's grounds, in the Barrio San Francisco; however, to play its matches at national level, it uses the Estadio Antonio Romero, which belongs to the Liga of that city.

Its traditional rival is Club Atlético 1.º de Mayo, from the same city. Another major rival is Club Sportivo Inter of the Barrio Obrero. Finally, owing to its participation in Argentine lower-division championships, San Martín developed rivalries with the clubs Sol de América and Sportivo Patria, the three being classed within the group of "los 4 grandes de Formosa" ("the 4 great clubs of Formosa"), together with its arch-rival Primero de Mayo.
