Chengdu Rongcheng

Chengdu Rongcheng Football Club (in Simplified Chinese, 成都蓉城足球俱乐部; pinyin, Chéngdū Róngchéng Zúqiú Jùlèbù), popularly known as Rongcheng or by its nickname "Hibiscus City" (Ciudad de los Hibiscos), is a professional football club based in the city of Chengdu, Sichuan province, China. It currently competes in the Chinese Super League, the top tier of the country's league system.

Founded on 7 March 2018 under the name Chengdu Xingcheng, the club was created with the backing of Chengdu Better City Investment Group, with the aim of bringing elite football back to the region after the disappearance of historic Sichuan clubs. In January 2021, it adopted its current name to comply with the Chinese Football Association's neutral naming regulations. The term Rongcheng derives from one of the city's traditional names, literally translated as "The City of Hibiscus".

Despite its short history, the club has enjoyed a dizzying rise in Chinese football. After debuting in the fourth division (CMCL) in 2018, it won a succession of promotions until making its Super League debut in 2022, after defeating Dalian Pro in a historic promotion play-off. Its consolidation among the elite culminated in the 2024 season, when it finished third in the league, its best position in its history, and secured, for the first time, qualification for the AFC Champions League Elite.

The team plays its home matches at the Phoenix Hill Football Stadium, a modern venue with a capacity of more than 50,000 spectators located in the Jinniu district. Its visual identity combines local cultural elements: the crest incorporates the symbolism of the Yin-Yang, representing the balance between firmness and victory, along with references to the historical heritage of Chengdu.
