Austria Vienna

FK Austria Vienna (in German: Fußballklub Austria Wien) is a football club based in Vienna, the capital of Austria. It plays in the Austrian Bundesliga, the country's top division.

The club was created on 29 October 1910 as Wiener Amateur Sportvereinigung, an amateur multi-sport association promoted by former members of the Vienna Cricket and Football Club. However, its official founding date is 15 March 1911, when it was admitted to the Austrian Football Association. The club turned professional in 1926, the year in which it also changed its name to the current one.

Austria Vienna is one of the most decorated clubs in its country, with 24 national league titles, 27 cup titles and six supercups. Internationally, it won two Mitropa Cups and was a finalist in the 1977–78 European Cup Winners' Cup. More than one hundred players who have represented the Austria national team have played for the club, among them the striker Matthias Sindelar, regarded as the best Austrian footballer of all time.

Violet and white are the club's traditional colours, which are reflected both in its crest and in its kit. The club plays its home matches at the Franz Horr Stadium, and its historic rival is Rapid Vienna, with whom it contests the Vienna Derby.
