Real Jaén CF

Real Jaén Club de Fútbol, S. A. D. is a Spanish football club, organised as a sports public limited company (sociedad anónima deportiva), from the city of Jaén (province of Jaén, Andalusia). It currently plays in the Primera Federación, the third tier of Spanish football, after being promoted in the 2025–26 season, and since 2001 it has played its home matches at the Caja Rural La Victoria, which has a capacity of 12,569 spectators.

It was founded on 12 June 1929 as the football section of the multi-sport club Sociedad Olímpica Jiennese. Although its sporting antecedents would lie in two earlier clubs, Jaén F.C. (1907), which disappeared in the 1910s, and Real Jaén F.C., founded on 13 August 1922, which was granted the title of "Real" in 1923 and ended up disappearing in 1927, these would be three different clubs. Nevertheless, both the club and its supporters regard the latter as the same club, but in the absence of conclusive historical research we can only consider them two different teams. On 5 September 1947, the Royal Spanish Football Federation approved the change of name of Sociedad Olímpica Jiennense to its current name, Real Jaén Club de Fútbol.

Real Jaén has played 3 seasons in the Primera División and 16 seasons in the Segunda División, ranking 54th in the all-time Primera División table with 71 points and 46th in the all-time Segunda División table with 594 points. Its first promotion to the top flight came in the 1953–54 season, while its last season there was 1957–58. It has also competed in the now-defunct Segunda División B and in the Tercera División for 31 and 27 seasons respectively; in the all-time Segunda B table it ranked 7th with the most points, 1,563. Its titles include two Segunda División league titles, two Segunda División B league titles, six Tercera División league titles and two Federation Cups. It has taken part in 49 editions of the national cup, reaching the quarter-finals twice, its best result.
