Hapoel Tel Aviv (in Hebrew: הפועל תל אביב‎) is an Israeli football club based in Tel Aviv. The club competes in the Ligat ha'Al, the country's top division of football. It is the second most successful team in Israel with 14 league titles, 16 cups, 5 super cups, 1 Toto Cup and 1 AFC Champions League, also being the first champion of this Asian club competition and one of the 3 Israeli clubs to have reached the group stage of the UEFA Champions League together with Maccabi Haifa and Maccabi Tel Aviv, with the latter of which it contests what is known in Israel as the "Big Tel Aviv Derby".

The team is associated with socialist politics and with the Histadrut, an Israeli trade union federation. It is currently in a restructuring stage following serious administrative and financial problems that have caused it to be relegated twice from the top division, the last time in 1989.

Although the matches against Maccabi are important because they are the two most decorated teams in the country, its fiercest rival is Beitar Jerusalem, the most popular team in Israel. This match is considered high-risk because the two teams represent opposing political currents: Hapoel the left-wing and Beitar the right-wing.
