Ramón Santamarina

Club y Biblioteca Ramón Santamarina, also known as Club Santamarina or Ramón Santamarina de Tandil, is a sports institution in the city of Tandil, in the interior of the province of Buenos Aires. It was founded on 20 December 1913 under the name Club Atlético Independencia. A month later, after a major donation from the Santamarina family (members of the city's political elite), it changed its name to the current one. In 2023 it takes part in the Torneo Federal A, the third tier of Argentine football for teams not affiliated to the AFA, after being relegated from the Primera B Nacional following 8 years in the second division.

Due to a bankruptcy suffered in 1998, the club had to play for three months as Unión Obrera Metalúrgica and then for 14 years as Club Social y Deportivo Santamarina. In 2010 it managed to overcome the financial crisis and recovered its original name.

In 2013 it turned 100 years old as an institution, and several celebrations were held, including the publication of a book. The celebrations also included the acquisition of a plot of land that is being developed for use as its own stadium and sports ground.

From the second half of 2014 it played in the Primera B Nacional after being crowned champion of the 2013/14 Torneo Argentino A, until the 2022 Campeonato de Primera Nacional. It is also part of the Liga Tandilense de fútbol (where it is the record champion with 35 titles), and therefore also takes part in the Unión Regional Deportiva.

Its historic traditional rival is Club Atlético y Biblioteca Ferrocarril Sud, also of Tandil, and it also maintains rivalries with Alvarado and Independiente de Tandil.
