Sporting CP

Sporting Club de Portugal (Sporting Clube de Portugal in Portuguese) is a multi-sport club from Portugal, founded on 1 July 1906. Its football team plays in Portugal's Primeira Divisão and wears a shirt with horizontal green and white stripes and black shorts. Its motto is Effort, dedication, devotion and glory.

It is the third most decorated football team in Portugal with 55 trophies; domestically, it has won 21 Primeira Divisão championships, 18 editions of the Taça de Portugal, 9 Super Cups, 4 League Cups and 4 Campeonatos de Portugal (tied with Porto). Internationally, Sporting de Portugal won the 1963-64 European Cup Winners' Cup and reached the final of the 2004-05 UEFA Cup, the 2000 Copa Ibérica and the 1968 Intertoto Cup. It currently ranks 29th in the UEFA club ranking. Its most notable campaign in the European Cup was the quarter-finals in the 1982-83 season, an achievement it repeated in the 2025-26 edition.

It is considered one of the "big three" of Portugal, together with Benfica and Porto, which have never been relegated from the top category of Portuguese football since 1934. With the first of them it contests the traditional Lisbon derby; Sporting is nicknamed Leões (lions) and Verde e Brancos (green and whites). The club anthem, "A Marcha do Sporting" (Sporting's March), was written in 1955.

In July 2020, Sporting claimed to have 106,625 active members, following its latest count. It has more than two million and 600,000 supporters in Portugal and many followers spread across Europe and the rest of the world.

It is the club with the most medals won by its athletes at the Olympic Games, and the second club with the most titles won in all the sports it practices or has practiced, behind Fútbol Club Barcelona. It is also the first football club to issue an ICO based on blockchain technology for its financing.

The Sporting Clube de Portugal academy is recognized around the world and considered one of the best youth academies in the world by many experts. It achieves this with the best scouting network in Portugal and coaches qualified in the training of footballers. Players such as Cristiano Ronaldo, Ricardo Quaresma, Luís Figo, Paulo Futre, Nani, Simão, João Moutinho and Rui Patrício, among many others, have been trained there. During the final of Euro 2016, won by Portugal, 10 of the 14 players who played in the match were trained at the club.
