Técnico Universitario

Club Deportivo Técnico Universitario, better known as Técnico Universitario, is an Ecuadorian sports organisation based in the city of Ambato. It was founded on 26 March 1971 as a student sports team of the Universidad Técnica de Ambato. It currently competes in men's and women's football: its men's squad plays in the Serie A, and its women's squad in the Serie A Amateur.

The team is known by the nicknames "Rodillo Rojo" and "Rojiblanco" because of its characteristic red and white striped shirt. It is also nicknamed "Guaytambo", since that is the name given to the people of Ambato. As for sporting achievements, its greatest are the runners-up finishes in the Campeonato Ecuatoriano de Fútbol in 1978 and 1980. Nevertheless, it has won several titles in lower divisions, being the most decorated team in the Serie B, with six titles. Its greatest rivalry is with Club Deportivo Macará, as they are the two most popular teams in Ambato and the Province of Tungurahua; together they contest the Clásico Ambateño. It also has a great rivalry with Centro Deportivo Olmedo, the most popular team in Riobamba, a city very close to Ambato.

The club plays its home matches at the Estadio Bellavista, where it shares home ground duties with Macará. The stadium has a capacity of 16,467 people and is owned by the Federación Deportiva de Tungurahua. Its training centre is the Complejo Deportivo Quillán Loma, located near the city of Ambato.
