Curicó Unido

Club de Deportes Provincial Curicó Unido is a Chilean football club from the city of Curicó, Maule Region. It was founded on 26 February 1973, following the dissolution of Club de Deportes Badminton (an institution created in Santiago that moved to Curicó), with the idea of creating a team that would better represent the city in professional football. It currently plays in the Liga de Ascenso de Chile.

The club's honours include two Primera B championships (2008 and 2016-17), both won under head coach Luis Marcoleta, and one Tercera División title (2005), achieved after spending 15 consecutive years in that division. In addition, the "albirrojos" have taken part in one international tournament, the 2023 Copa Libertadores, in which they played in Phase 2 by virtue of finishing third in the 2022 Primera División table, their best campaign in history.

Curicó Unido is recognised and highly regarded nationally for being one of the few Chilean professional clubs to follow the Corporación Deportiva model, rather than existing as a Sociedad Anónima Deportiva Profesional, as the rest of the teams in the country's football do. The main leadership and organisational decisions rest with its membership and the assemblies that members attend regularly, together with the elections in which those members must take part to choose the boards of directors, creating a strong sense of identification between the club and its fans.

"El Curi" plays its home matches at the Estadio La Granja, a ground opened in 1949 and renovated in 2010 and 2016, with a capacity of 8,278 spectators. Its traditional rivals are Rangers de Talca, against whom it plays the Clásico del Maule, and Ñublense de Chillán, with whom it likewise has an intense rivalry.
