Seongnam Ilhwa Chunma

Seongnam Football Club (in Korean: 성남 FC) is a football club located in Seongnam, Gyeonggi Province (South Korea). It plays in the K League 2, the second national tier.

It was founded in 1989 under the name "Ilhwa Chunma" (in English: Winged Horse) and was established in Seoul, where it remained for seven seasons. In 1996 it was forced to move to Cheonan and three years later it settled permanently in Seongnam, twenty-eight kilometers from the capital.

It is the most decorated team in the country and throughout its history it has won seven league titles, two cups and three league cups, while at the international level it has won two AFC Champions Leagues, in 1996 and 2010. The International Federation of Football History and Statistics considered Ilhwa Chunma to have been the fifth best club in Asia in the 20th century.

Seongnam F. C. is currently a community-owned club. From 1989 to 2013 it belonged to Ilhwa, a company linked to the Unification Church, which also organizes competitions such as the Peace Cup. But in October 2013 the mayor of Seongnam announced the purchase of the team in order to keep it in the city, and as a result it adopted a new identity from the 2014 season.
