Porto

Futebol Clube do Porto (in Spanish, Fútbol Club Porto), or simply and mostly known as Porto, is a multi-sport club from the city of Porto, Portugal. It was founded as a football club on 28 September 1893 and its football section plays in the Portuguese Primeira División. In addition to football, it has many other sections in which it also competes with the other major multi-sport clubs of the country.

They are nicknamed Dragões (Dragons) after the mythical creature at the top of the club's crest, and Azuis e brancos (blue and whites) after the colors of the shirt. The club uses blue and white in its shirt with vertical stripes and blue shorts. The club's fans are called portistas.

Porto has never been relegated from the Portuguese Primeira División since its creation in 1933, like the other big clubs of the country, Benfica and Sporting de Portugal.

It is the most decorated team in Portugal, with 84 major trophies, of which 77 were won in national competitions. These include 30 Primeira Liga titles (five of which were won consecutively between 1994–95 and 1998–99, a record in Portuguese football), 19 Copas de Portugal, 4 titles of the defunct Campeonato de Portugal and a record 23 Supercopas de Portugal. Porto is the second team in the history of the Portuguese league to have won a title without defeat (2010–11), repeating the feat in 2012–13. In the first of these, Porto achieved the largest points gap in history between champion and runner-up under a three-points-for-a-win system (21 points), on the way to a second quadruple.

In international competitions, Porto is the most successful Portuguese team, with 7 trophies. They won the UEFA Champions League in 1987 and 2004, the Europa League in 2003 and 2011, the UEFA Super Cup in 1987 and the Intercontinental Cup in 1987 and 2004. In addition, it was runner-up in the 1983–84 Cup Winners' Cup, and in the 2003, 2004 and 2011 editions of the UEFA Super Cup. Porto is the only Portuguese club that has won the Champions League, the Europa League, the UEFA Super Cup and the Intercontinental Cup. In addition, it has achieved a continental treble of national league, national cup and European titles (2002–03 and 2010–11).

Owing to its two triumphs in the Intercontinental Cup in 1987 and 2004 (both played in Japan), the Dragão is the only Portuguese club that belongs to the select group of the only 31 teams in the world that have been able to be crowned club world champions, among more than 300,000 clubs recognized by FIFA.

Porto has the third highest number of appearances in the group stage of the UEFA Champions League (25), behind Barcelona and Real Madrid (26). At the end of the 2018–19 season, Porto ranked tenth in the UEFA club coefficient ranking and 15th in the IFFHS world ranking.

Since 2003 it has played its home matches at the Estádio do Dragão (successor to the now defunct Estádio das Antas), with a capacity of 50,033 spectators, and it is one of those classified as “top category stadiums” by UEFA itself.
