Sport Club Corinthians Paulista, popularly known as Corinthians, is a multi-sport club from the city of São Paulo, capital of the state of São Paulo, Brazil. Its name was inspired by Corinthian FC of London, which toured Brazil. Although the institution takes part in numerous sports, its recognition and main achievements have come in professional men's football. It competes in the Campeonato Brasileiro Série A and the Campeonato Paulista.

It was founded on 1 September 1910 by five railway workers from the Bom Retiro neighbourhood following the performances of the English Corinthian Football Club. Corinthians is one of the most decorated clubs in Brazil, being the third team with the most national titles with 11 conquests, divided into seven Campeonatos Brasileiros, three Copas do Brasil and one Supercopa do Brasil; internationally it has won two FIFA Club World Cups, one Copa Libertadores de América and one Recopa Sudamericana; regionally it has won five Torneios Rio-São Paulo, two Copas de Campeões do Estado Rio–São Paulo, thirty Campeonatos Paulistas (a record) and one Copa Bandeirantes (sole winner). It has the second-highest number of conquests in the Campeonato Brasileiro counting from 1971 (when the name Campeonato Nacional de Clubes was adopted), with 7 titles (behind Palmeiras and Flamengo).

Furthermore, the Timão was the first club to win the FIFA Club World Championship since its restructuring in 2000, which was played in Brazil, and it also won the 2012 title, the latter being held in Japan. These 2 victories make it part of the select group of only 31 teams in the world that have been able to be crowned «World Club Champions», among more than 300,000 clubs recognised by FIFA.

It plays one of the most important derbies in the world and the most important derby in the state of São Paulo, the Derbi Paulista, against Palmeiras, its greatest rival. It also has a strong rivalry with São Paulo and Santos FC, the other big teams in the state.

Its traditional colours are white and black; the club's home kit traditionally features white shirts and black shorts, accompanied by white socks. Its traditional crest was introduced in 1939 by the modernist painter Francisco Rebolo, with the flag of the state of São Paulo on a shield, two oars and an anchor representing the club's early success in water sports. Since 2014, it has played football at the Arena Corinthians, one of the venues of the 2014 FIFA World Cup. Its historic rivals are Palmeiras, with whom it competes in the Derby Paulista; São Paulo, with whom it plays the Majestic; and Santos, with whom it competes in the Clásico Alvinegro.

It is recognised as one of the most important brands in the world of football. A study carried out in 2012 shows Corinthians as the most valuable Brazilian football club for the third consecutive year. It is the first Brazilian club to have surpassed the mark of 1,000 million Brazilian reais. This study by BDO had international repercussions, through the American magazine Forbes. The club was ranked by Forbes in 2017 as the most valuable football club in the Americas, with a value of $576.9 million.

According to a number of research institutes, such as IBOPE, Corinthians has between 27 and 33 million fans spread across the country, having the second-largest fan base in Brazil, behind only Flamengo nationally; its fans are also considered one of the largest fan bases in the world.

Among the major sports throughout Corinthians' history, basketball stands out, where the club enjoyed relative success, especially during the 1950s and 1960s, with the conquest of the São Paulo, Brazilian and even South American titles; also swimming, which obtained four conquests of the Troféu Brasil de Natação, now the Trofeo Maria Lenk, and futsal, from the 1970s onwards, which produced conquests in state and national tournaments. The influence of rowing in the club's history modified the original crest, which merely alluded to football, by adding the pair of oars and the anchor as they appear to this day.

Likewise, it has the honour of being one of the 8 teams in the world never to have lost to Real Madrid.
