Torpedo Moscow

FC Torpedo Moscow (in Russian: Футбольный клуб "Торпедо" Москва) is a Russian football club from the capital Moscow. Founded in 1924, it plays its home matches at the Eduard Streltsov Stadium located in the Russian capital. Its usual kit consists of a white shirt and black shorts. It currently plays in the Russian First Division.

The club, whose foundation was promoted by the automobile sector, achieved great success in the Soviet Union during the 1960s, the period in which it won a large part of its successes. In total, Torpedo has three Soviet leagues, six Soviet Cups and one Russian Cup. However, since the dissolution of the Soviet Union, Torpedo has not won any Russian Premier League and has experienced serious periods of financial and sporting crisis that took it down to the fourth division in 2009.

Torpedo is one of the many clubs in Moscow and a historic name of Russian football. It is placed fifth in the all-time table of the Soviet league, from which it was absent only for the first two editions (1936–1938), and it remained in the top category until the crisis that engulfed the club in 1991. In the all-time table of the Russian league it appears in seventh position. Influential and prominent Soviet footballers emerged from Torpedo's ranks, such as Eduard Streltsov, Slava Metreveli or Valentin Ivanov.
