Atlas

Club Atlético Atlas is an Argentine sports institution whose main activity is men's football. It was founded on 17 August 1951 by a group of young sportsmen led by Ricardo Puga, under the name Deportes Atlas, with the intention of taking part in the Juegos Nacionales Evita. In 1964 it affiliated to the Asociación del Fútbol Argentino and began to play in the fourth-division tournaments called Primera de Aficionados — today Primera D — which from the 1986–87 season became the fifth division for teams directly affiliated to the AFA. It currently plays in the Primera C.

Its secretariat is in the city of Buenos Aires and its stadium, named Ricardo Puga, with a capacity of 2,500 people, is located in the town of Las Malvinas, partido of General Rodríguez, province of Buenos Aires.

Its greatest sporting achievements were the runners-up places in the 2010–11 and 2015 seasons and the promotion to the Primera C in 2020. The 2015 runners-up place also allowed it to qualify for the final phase of the 2015–16 Copa Argentina, when it faced Estudiantes de La Plata. A year later, it played against River Plate in the same competition.

In 2019, Atlas began to take part in AFA youth tournaments.

On 30 January 2021, it achieved promotion for the first time, after having lost the previous five opportunities, beating Deportivo Paraguayo 2–0 in the final for the second promotion.
