Millwall Football Club is an English football club based in south-east London, which currently competes in the Football League Championship. It was founded in 1885 under the name Millwall Rovers. Although it stopped playing in the Millwall district in 1910, the club has kept that name. From then until 1993, it played its home matches at The Den, a stadium located in New Cross which was later demolished. That year it moved to its current stadium, also called The Den, located in South Bermondsey. The club's crest shows a lion rampant, in reference to the team's nickname, “the lions”. Traditionally, the kit consisted of a blue shirt and socks with white shorts, whereas today it is entirely blue, in a darker shade, as a tribute to the club's Scottish roots and to the first Millwall Rovers team, which used this design until 1936. In 2004, the club qualified for a European competition for the first time, the UEFA Cup, after reaching the FA Cup final. In that competition, it had reached the semi-finals on three earlier occasions (1900, 1903 and 1937). It has spent most of its history in the second and third divisions of English football. Its best finish in the top flight was tenth place. It is considered the fortieth most successful club in the country. It maintains a rivalry with West Ham United, against whom it has played more than a hundred matches since 1899, in the so-called “East and South London derby”. Its supporters are known for the chant “No one likes us, we don't care”.
