San Telmo

Club Atlético San Telmo is an Argentine sports club founded on 5 March 1904 in the City of Buenos Aires. At present, the club has its social headquarters and legal seat at calle Perú 1362 in the Autonomous City of Buenos Aires. Its main football stadium is 4.7 km from there, in the town of Dock Sud, partido of Avellaneda, in Greater Buenos Aires. It currently competes in the Primera Nacional, the second division of Argentine football.

It formally began its football participation in 1916, the season in which it entered the Segunda División of the Asociación Argentina de Football, being promoted to the División Intermedia that same season.

After settling its stadium in Isla Maciel in 1926, San Telmo continued competing in the División B of the Asociación Amateurs de Football until 1933, when it had to cease its activities because of several financial problems.

It was refounded on 17 October 1942, affiliating to the AFA the following year, in which it won the Tercera División titles in 1949 and the Primera División Amateur titles in 1956 and 1961, in addition to achieving promotion to the Primera División in 1975.

Although football has been the institution's main sport since its foundation, San Telmo carries out several additional activities, including basketball, handball, field hockey and volleyball.
