Polideportivo Ejido

Club Polideportivo Ejido, S. A. D., popularly known as Poli Ejido, was a football club from Spain, from the town of El Ejido in the province of Almería, Andalusia.

It was founded in 1969. In the first decades of its history there were several rivals with whom it competed for the same league objectives, such as CD Roquetas (Almería), CD Mármol Macael (Almería), CD Los Boliches (now UD Fuengirola Los Boliches) (Málaga) and, above all, Guadix CF (Granada). The latter is the team that, until its refoundation, can be considered its true historic rival, since the two were involved in numerous contests in Regional Preferente (formerly regional rather than provincial in scope, as it is today), in the Tercera División, in the Segunda División B and even in the Copa del Rey; it had to face all of them in those competitions. But since the beginning of the 2000s, it is Unión Deportiva Almería with whom Poli has had the greatest rivalry, heightened over the five years in which both were in the Segunda División, from 2002 to 2007.

During the 2011–12 season, the club was under insolvency law protection because of its dire economic situation. At first it managed to avoid administrative relegation to the Tercera thanks to the insolvency proceedings, but it ended up withdrawing from the competition and was relegated to the Tercera, a division in which it did not play the following season and, after two years without competing, in January 2014 the Commercial Court of Almería declared the Sociedad Anónima Deportiva (S.A.D.) extinct and it officially ceased to exist (R.I.P.).
