FK Partizan Belgrade

Partizan Belgrade (in Serbian: Фудбалски клуб Партизан [Fudbalski klub Partizan]) is a Serbian football club based in the capital, Belgrade. It was founded on 4 October 1945 as part of the Partizan Sports Society and currently plays in the Serbian SuperLiga. The club plays its home matches at the Partizan Stadium, which has a capacity of 33,000 spectators.

In its long history, Partizan Belgrade has won 46 official trophies, including 27 national championships (11 Yugoslav leagues, 8 Serbia and Montenegro leagues and 8 Serbian SuperLiga titles), 16 national cups (6 Yugoslav cups, 3 Serbia and Montenegro cups and 7 Serbian cups) and one Yugoslav national Super Cup; at international level it won the Mitropa Cup in 1978 and the Uhrencup in 1989. Partizan played the first match in the history of the European Cup, facing Sporting CP of Portugal in 1955; it later also became the first Eastern European club to reach the European Cup final, in 1966, and was the first Serbian club to take part in the group stage of the UEFA Champions League since changing to its current name in 1992. The second-division side FK Teleoptik is also owned by Partizan.

Very famous in international football is the great rivalry it has with Red Star Belgrade, against whom it plays the Eternal Derby of Belgrade. According to a recent survey, Partizan is the second most popular football club in Serbia behind its rivals Red Star, with 30.5 per cent of the population supporting the club.

After being crowned SuperLiga champion in the 2011–12 season, it became the first Serbian top-flight club to win 5 consecutive domestic titles (and 6 titles the following season), as it had also won the championships of 2007–08, 2008–09, 2009–10 and 2010–11.
