At the national level, its best result in the Primera División was sixth place in 2011-12, six points from third place. On 2 February 2020 it played its 500th match in the top category. In the all-time table of Spanish football it occupies 27th place, having played 16 editions in the top category. In 2023, the Royal Spanish Football Federation recognized the so-called Copa Presidente de la República-Copa de la España Libre of 1937 as an official competition, in which the Granota side defeated Valencia C. F. in the final, thus adding to the club's national honors list alongside the Segunda División league titles of 2003-04, 2016-17 and 2024-25.

The team takes its name from the Levante beach, where its playing field was located at the beginning of the 20th century, the Camp de la Platgeta ("the little beach field"). Owing to its origins in the maritime neighborhood of Cabañal-Cañamelar, it has always been known as the team of the Cabañal.
