Cúcuta Deportivo Fútbol Club, better known simply as "Cúcuta Deportivo", is a Colombian football club from the city of Cúcuta, Norte de Santander. It was founded on 10 September 1924, making it one of the oldest active football clubs in Colombia; specifically, the fourth oldest club in the country. It has taken part in Colombian professional football since the 1950 season, the year in which it entered professionalism after a long spell in amateur football, and simultaneously since that season it has played its home matches at the Estadio General Santander, with a capacity of 42,000 spectators. It currently plays in the Categoría Primera B, the second level of the Colombian football league system.
Identified by its colours red and black —from which it takes the nickname "rojinegros"—, it is one of the historic clubs of Colombia. It won the title of champion of the Colombian first division in the 2006-II season. Likewise, it has three second division titles, won in the 1995–96, 2005 and 2018 seasons. It took part in the 2007 Copa Libertadores, achieving a notable continental performance by reaching the semi-finals, a stage at which it faced Boca Juniors of Argentina; and in the 2008 Copa Libertadores, achieving another good showing, reaching the round of 16, a stage at which it faced Santos of Brazil. On 22 November 2007 it received various awards and recognitions from the television network Fox Sports Colombia edition owing to its participation in the 2007 Copa Libertadores.
In 2012, the IFFHS compiled the ranking of South American clubs, with statistical data from 2001–2012, in which Cúcuta stood out as one of the best Colombian teams and the 92nd at continental level of the 21st century. Likewise, it occupies 146th place in the IFFHS all-time world club ranking, being the fifth best-positioned Colombian team on the list.
Its classic rival is Atlético Bucaramanga, against whom it plays the Clásico del oriente colombiano (in which it leads the head-to-head record). Cúcuta has one of the largest fan bases in the country.
On 25 November 2020, Cúcuta Deportivo was officially disaffiliated from Dimayor owing to its liquidation, so that, as a preventive measure, its accreditation in Colombian professional football was suspended and it was not allowed to take part in any professional tournament. Nevertheless, on 20 April 2022 Dimayor confirmed the club's authorisation to play again in Colombian professional football, returning to the second division.
