UE Rubí

Unió Esportiva Rubí is a football club from the city of Rubí (Barcelona), Spain, which currently plays in the Lliga Elit, playing its home matches at the Municipal stadium of Can Rosés.

The origin of the club and of football in the city of Rubí is to be found on 30 June 1912, when a group of young men from what was then a small town of fewer than 5,000 inhabitants, after playing their first matches (a month earlier) against Barcelona clubs, decided to form a football club to represent the town. Their first match was played against a combined side from the neighboring town of Castellbisbal. However, it was not until 1917 that the Barcelona businessman Joan Franch i Vilarnau, who vacationed with his family in Rubí during the summer, set out to constitute the organization of the club by undertaking the formal creation of the club under the name Rubí Futbol Club, which remained in force until its disappearance in 1927. The club was refounded in 1932 under its current name: Unió Esportiva Rubí.

After the Civil War, it began to play in the Catalan Segunda Regional, moving between the categories of Primera Regional and the Catalan Preferente until 1991, the year in which it achieved its first promotion to the Tercera División. In the 1992–93 season it achieved a historic promotion (the most important in its history) to the Segunda División B after finishing in third place. In the third Spanish category it remained for only one year and was relegated.
