Karpaty Lviv

FC Karpaty Lviv (in Ukrainian: ФК «Карпати» Львів) is a Ukrainian professional football club from the city of Lviv, in the Carpathian Mountains, from which it takes its name. It was founded in 1963 and plays its home matches at the Ukraina Stadium. The team currently plays in the Ukrainian Premier League.

The club won its first official title in 1969, only six years after its foundation, when it was proclaimed Soviet Cup champion by defeating SKA Rostov-on-Don two goals to one in the final. Karpaty is the only club in Soviet football that won the national Cup without playing in the top division at the time. Since then, the team has never again won any other top-level title despite having reached the final of the Ukrainian Cup on two occasions (1993 and 1999). In the Ukrainian Premier League its best result was the third place achieved in 1998.

The traditional colours of the club's kit are a shirt with white and green stripes and white shorts, a design that has been used since the club's foundation. The crest has evolved from its origins to the current one designed in 1990, which shows a fortress and a lion in the likeness of the city's coat of arms. That is why the club is also known as the "Green Lions" and the lion is its official mascot.
