Rotherham United Football Club is an English football club from the town of Rotherham, nicknamed The Millers. It was founded in 1925 and, from the 2026–27 season, will play in EFL League Two, the fourth tier of football in England.

Founded in 1925 as a merger between Rotherham Town (1899) and Rotherham County (1870), the club's colours were at first yellow and black, but later developed into the more traditional red and white. It also plays its matches at the New York Stadium, which has a capacity of 13,022; before that it played its matches at Millmoor for 101 years. It joined the league in 1925. Rotherham spent the first 25 years of its time in the Division Three North, the lowest level of the football league, finally winning promotion to Division Two in the 1950–51 season.

The Millers stood out in the English League Cup in 1961 by reaching the final, winning the Football League Trophy in 1995–96 and the Football League Third Division North Cup in 1946. They also achieved two promotions, in 1999–2001 under Ronnie Moore and in 2012–2014 under Steve Evans.
