Sport Áncash

Sport Áncash is a football club from the Peruvian city of Huaraz, in the department of Áncash. It was originally founded in 1935, refounded in 1960 and formally registered in 1967. It competes in the Copa Perú, the third division of Peruvian football.

It has one Copa Perú championship (2004), was also runner-up in the Peruvian Segunda División in 2010 and 2016, and runner-up in the 2011 Copa del Inca, while at the departmental level it has 10 titles. These achievements earned it the sympathy of the Huaraz fans, which is why it is considered the team with the greatest tradition, history and popular roots in the city and one of the most important in the Áncash Region along with José Gálvez of Chimbote, against whom it plays the Clásico Ancashino. In addition, it is the first Huaraz team to have taken part in the top division and in an international tournament.

In the all-time table of Peruvian football it ranks 33rd after a respectable campaign during the five years it was in the top flight; it finished third in 2007, thereby qualifying for the 2008 Copa Sudamericana.
