Red Star FC

Red Star Football Club (usually referred to as Red Star FC, Red Star Paris, Red Star Saint-Ouen or, simply, Red Star) is a French football club based in Saint-Ouen, north of Paris. The club was founded in 1897 and takes part in Ligue 2, the second division of national football. Red Star plays its home matches at the Stade Bauer.

Red Star has a rich history. The club was founded in 1897 under the name Red Star Club Français by Jules Rimet, who later went on to serve as president of both the French Football Federation and FIFA. Red Star is one of the founding members of Ligue 1 and spent 19 seasons in the top division, in which it last played in 1974–75. The team has won five Coupe de France titles and is tied for fifth place in this trophy, alongside PSG and Lyon, among others.

Red Star produced several talented players in its early years, especially Paul Nicolas, who spent nine years at the club. Nicolas later became a catalyst in the development of professional football in France and was partly responsible for the creation of the Ligue de Football Professionnel. Roger Lemerre began his coaching career at the club before leading France to the UEFA Euro 2000 and 2001 FIFA Confederations Cup titles.
