Red Star Belgrade

Red Star Belgrade (Serbian: Fudbalski klub Crvena Zvezda Beograd; Serbian Cyrillic: Фудбалски клуб Црвена звезда Београд) is a Serbian football club based in the city of Belgrade. It was founded on 4 March 1945 as part of the Red Star Sports Society and currently plays in the Serbian SuperLiga. It plays its home matches at the Rajko Mitić Stadium, popularly known as the "Little Maracanã", with a capacity of 55,538 spectators.

It is the most decorated club in Serbia, with 37 league titles and 27 cups. In 1991 it became the only club from the former Yugoslavia to win the European Cup and the only one from Eastern Europe to win the Intercontinental Cup. The following season, Red Star reached the semi-finals of the European Cup, a stage it had already reached in 1957 and 1971. In 1979, it reached the UEFA Cup final, but lost to Borussia Mönchengladbach. It also reached the semi-finals of the Cup Winners' Cup in 1975.

It maintains a great rivalry with FK Partizan, against whom it plays the Eternal Derby of Belgrade, which is one of the greatest football rivalries of all time. According to the latest surveys, Red Star Belgrade is the most popular football club in Serbia, with almost 48.2% of the population considering themselves supporters of the club. It is also very popular in Montenegro and Republika Srpska, the Serbian entity within Bosnia and Herzegovina.

In October 2017, FIFA announced in a statement that the Intercontinental champions would be recognised as world champions. Having won this title in 1991 against Colo-Colo, Red Star is officially recognised as "Club World Champion", in addition to being the only Serbian team, and the only one from the former Yugoslavia, to hold this distinction.
