Qarabağ FK

Qarabağ Futbol Klubu is a football club from Azerbaijan, originally from Agdam and currently based in Baku. It competes in the Azerbaijan Premier League, the top category of Azerbaijani football.

The entity was founded in 1987 as the representative team of Agdam, in the Nagorno-Karabakh region. In 1993 the team, together with the Azerbaijani population, had to leave Agdam because of the First Nagorno-Karabakh War. Since then it has played in several cities before settling in Baku. In 2015 it inaugurated its own stadium in the capital, the Azersun Arena, while it plays its international matches at the Tofiq Bahramov stadium.

Qarabag won its first national league in 1993 and for years kept a low profile because of its financial problems. In 2001, the Azersun group took control of the entity and made a deep investment to turn it into the dominant force of national football. Since then Qarabag has won seven consecutive league titles from 2014 to 2020, and was the first Azerbaijani club to qualify for the group stage of the UEFA Champions League (2017–18).
