Boavista

Boavista Futebol Clube is a Portuguese sports club located in the western part of Porto. It was officially founded on 1 August 1903 by British and Portuguese workers as a football team, today its most representative section, and from the 2025–26 season it will compete in the Primera División Distrital of Portugal, which is the fifth tier of the Portuguese football championship. In the 2026–27 season it was forced to disappear. It also has numerous sections, including a professional cycling team.

The institution has won numerous titles throughout its history, including the 2000–01 Primera División championship, five Portuguese Cups and three Super Cups, coinciding with the best sporting period in its history at the beginning of the 21st century. Together with Os Belenenses, it is the only team that has managed to break the dominance of the "big three" — Benfica, Sporting and Porto — in the league honours list.

After 39 years in the top flight, Boavista went through a financial crisis aggravated by the administrative relegation in 2008 as a result of the "Golden Whistle" case. However, the team was readmitted to the Primera División from the 2014–15 campaign, after the Portuguese courts ruled against that expulsion.

Boavista, as a team from the city of Porto, maintains an intense rivalry with Futebol Clube do Porto.
