Club León

Club León is a professional football club from Mexico from the city of León, located in the Bajío region of Mexico, specifically in the state of Guanajuato. It plays in the top division of Mexico, in which it occupies eighth position in its all-time ranking.

It is the fourth most decorated club in Mexican football with a total of 19 titles, including eight league titles, five cups and five Campeón de Campeones titles; it was also the first champion of the eLiga MX, and as a distinction it has been the first Campeonísimo. On the other hand, its greatest achievement in international competitions has been a Concacaf Champions League title in 2023, having been runner-up 30 years earlier, in 1993.

It was founded on 31 August 1943, after the merger of the Selección de Guanajuato and the Unión de Curtidores, under the name Unión-León, going on to play its home matches at the now-demolished Estadio Patria. It later moved its base to the old Estadio Enrique Fernández Martínez and later, in 1950, to the Estadio La Martinica. Since 1967 it has played its home matches at the Estadio León, also known as Nou Camp.

It has taken part in the top division since the 2012-13 season, a category to which it returned after a decade in the Liga de Ascenso de México, after its relegation in the summer of 2002; previously it had already lost its place once, in the 1986-1987 season, and then returned to the Primera in the 1989-1990 campaign.
