Grimsby Town

Grimsby Town Football Club is a professional football club based in Cleethorpes, Grimsby, in North East Lincolnshire, England, competing in EFL League Two, the fourth tier of the English football league system. The club was founded as Grimsby Pelham in 1878, changed its name to Grimsby Town a year later, and moved to its current stadium, Blundell Park, in 1898.

Grimsby Town is the most successful of Lincolnshire's three professional clubs, being the only one to have played in the top flight of English football. It is also the only one of the three to have reached an FA Cup semi-final (doing so twice, both times during the 1930s). Furthermore, it is the Lincolnshire club that has spent the most seasons playing in England's top two divisions.

Grimsby Town's relegation in 2010 made it the sixth club to have competed in each of the top five tiers of English football (following Wimbledon, Wigan Athletic, Carlisle United, Oxford United, and Luton Town, and preceding Leyton Orient, Notts County, and Oldham Athletic). The attendance of 76,962 at Grimsby's 1939 FA Cup semi-final against Wolverhampton Wanderers remains a record for Manchester United's Old Trafford stadium. In 1954, the club became the first English team to hire a foreign manager, the Hungarian Elemér Berkessy. The player with the most appearances for the club is John McDermott, who played 754 matches between 1987 and 2007, while the all-time leading goalscorer is Pat Glover, with 180 goals scored between 1930 and 1939.
